Our Love Undressed

I heard your words in love's own chord
And my heart had nothing more to say
For there is nothing else this world afford
Than when you come your beautiful way.

Except there is a gulf out destinies separate
And what we feel the cold facts will deny
So, only futile that here your love await
But, so close, why not wish with me you lie?

Hearing you, I heard your heart's own song
The music from our feelings’ own melody
That sings that to each other we truly belong
And its climax can only entertain our ecstasy.

So, from only a few words so much expressed
That the cruelest truth must, to us, let go
A love like ours in this place will be undressed
For this earth only as good as the love we know.
