Final Scene

I was asked to write about humanity

And the philandering philosophy of peace
But, not enough to look around to see
My Iife is given too short a lease.

Wiser minds spanning this world's brief time

Were better prepared to answer
And, yet, theirs are not found in any rhyme
Because our actions these best deliver.

But, it was asked of this poet to use this page

And here on what stirs us most must Iive
I say we all play our parts on a cosmic stage
Where our roles the final scene best give.

I know what is most important is the part I play

Then what I can contribute most is my love
And when the curtain comes, inevitably, down
The love I shared humanity's promise prove.
