Absence

Don’t think absence keeps us apart
Or the absence that is in-between
For you are always in my heart
If not in my presence seen.

And though there is this interlude
Don’t think it is because I forget
But absence has only my love brewed
For an appetite only you can whet.

And though this night without you sleep
Don’t think in my dreams you don’t live
For if in them your love can keep
Until, in the day's light, will give.

Now, I wish this absence temporary
And, once again, your love will show
Then the dream real when with me
And what I long for, in your arms, know.
