Face to Face

I will only write this to pass the time
I don’t look to posterity for these lines preserve
Not do I care that I write this simple rhyme
For some higher purpose my life does serve.

And this page used by the greatest artists past
Their canvas that their passion timelessly convey
But, what I write only for this moment last
And if I have you don’t care if it will stay.

My brush is only dully filled for not meant to spill
What colors that would fill in what you bring
While other's lines transcendent, I'll take your thrill
To feel it my heart past these lines sing.

So, leave this blank page for the master’s touch
That I will read for my artistry to inspire
But, their eloquence can’t match the one I want so much
Their finest lines fade when face-to-face with our desire.
