Loveless Life

I loved you but it was too much to ask
This earth from a miracle made this will reject
All else must seek their own miracle, too much a task
Such bliss from this place should not expect.

So, where once I saw the universe in your eyes
I look around and a despoiled place instead
So, this is where what was ordained paradise
It was, but only fulfilled where your love led.

Now, I am helplessly watching as you go
Cold Time, why do you have to take her away
Could you let beauty for a few more moments go
And the promise this world had a little longer stay?

Love, then, only consigned to some divinity
It only slipped out for me to briefly taste
How cold to learn never truly meant for me
And the truth only a loveless life must face.
