I Had Love

I had love like the sun had the day
And the night with a beckoning moon
Like the birds whose melodies our hearts sway
And the oceans whose waves our hearts swoon.

I had love like the meadow waiting for the rain
And the mountain knowing it will touch the sky
Like the rainbow whose brilliance feeds upon the rain
And the gardens whose flowers make us sigh.

I had love like the sky feels the wind's breeze
And the flower knows it has the spring to grow
Like the winter knowing its cold grip ease
And the summer where buds of romance sow.

I had this love but now you will no longer hold my hand
And like the morning with no sunrise
I must watch you leave for a reason only Heaven understand
And live without this Earth’s best prize.
