35 years ago today, Van Halen's 1984 was released on this day in...well...1984. Who could ever forget its four singles, Panama, I'll Wait, Hot for Teacher, and Jump, the band's only #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.

Van halen is special to me. i was in high school when this lp came out. brutally strong but cubby, i was considered good looking but i felt awkward socially and had no game with girls. then i heard jamie's crying on the radio and thought, 'dammit! what in the ###### n' world did i just hear?' i was completely taken away.

A brilliant album from The Mighty Van Halen. 12 Million sales in the U.S. Even if Dave had stayed in the band, I don't think they could have bettered this LP. '1984' opened the door for all the 80's hair metal bands like Poison, Cinderella, Warrant etc etc
